Tupper Lake DRI

February 17, 2022 UPDATE

The Village of Tupper Lake Local Planning Committee (LPC), along with its state partners, is seeking project proposals to be evaluated for potential inclusion in the Strategic Investment Plan for the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI). Proposal submission is open to the public for projects that are located within the DRI boundary. Projects will be evaluated by the LPC and consultant team for completion, feasibility and alignment with the DRI vision.

The submission deadline for the Call for Projects form is 5:00 PM, March 11, 2022. The Call for Projects form can be found on the Tupper Lake DRI website at www.tupperlakedri.com/callforprojects. The form provides instructions on the submission of digital and hardcopy materials. Projects that were included in Tupper Lake’s DRI application, as well as new proposals must complete a Call for Projects form.

The consultant team will be available to answer questions from potential project sponsors about submitting Call for Projects form through “Virtual Office Hours”. Virtual Office Hours will be held through Zoom on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM and on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. December 2021

As you may have heard, the dedication and investment of the entire Tupper Lake community has paid offOn Friday, we received notification that we are a Downtown Revitalization Initiative winner!

This award brings $10 million in state funds for development of a Strategic Investment Plan and transformational projects to implement that plan.

Now begins a state-led public process, described in this quote from the Governor's press release:

Tupper Lake will now begin the process of developing a Strategic Investment Plan to revitalize its downtown with up to $300,000 in planning funds from the $10 million DRI grant. A Local Planning Committee made up of municipal representatives, community leaders, and other stakeholders will lead the effort, supported by a team of private sector experts and state planners.

The Strategic Investment Plan will examine local assets and opportunities and identify economic development, transportation, housing, and community projects that align with the community's vision for downtown revitalization and that are poised for implementation. The Strategic Investment Plan will guide the investment of DRI grant funds in revitalization projects that will advance the community's vision for its downtown and that can leverage and expand upon the state's $10 million investment. Plans for the DRI's fifth round will be complete in 2022.

Attached please find materials from the state's DRI Guidebook providing additional information about the DRI process and project selection, along with the DRI boundary we proposed in the application.
