Tupper Lake Clean Heating & Cooling Campaign

Clean Heating and Cooling Community

Plug into savings year round by participating in the Town of Tupper Lake’s Heating and Cooling Campaign! Today’s technology has made heat pumps a better way to keep your home, apartment or business comfortable and safe all year long, while potentially saving you money on your energy bills. Plus, you can heat, cool, and dehumidify your home. So, stay cool during those summer heat waves and warm during the winter months. Yes, even North Country winters!

Residents who decide to participate in the campaign can be connected with local experts and contractors who can provide an outline of potential incentives, rebates, financing, and payment options to ease the burden of replacing current heating and cooling systems. These contractors may also give you a holistic view of your home or business to determine if you’d benefit from weatherization upgrades to further increase the comfort of your space and reduce your energy usage/cost.

Build a cleaner community–join a movement! When you take advantage of the available incentives for your home or business you are also providing much-needed funding for our community. Each heat pump installation puts the Town of Tupper Lake one step closer to earning a Clean Energy Community grant, which will go towards clean energy improvements throughout the town.

What are Heat Pumps? Compare Your Options!

Heat pumps pull heat from the air or from underground and use it to heat your home in the colder months, then they flow in reverse in the warmer months, cooling and dehumidifying your home. Just like a refrigerator, they transfer heat from one place to another.

How can heat be extracted from cold winter air? Today’s cold-climate heat pumps are a smarter, more efficient option as they draw thermal energy from the environment (even from below zero air temperatures), concentrate, and transfer the warm air into the home.

These all-in-one heating and cooling systems are extremely efficient and require minimal maintenance. Heat pumps are a cleaner and safer option, since there is no combustion of fuel, carbon monoxide emissions or fuel storage. Heat pumps pull heat from two sources: air and ground. They can be used for space heating and cooling, and domestic hot water heating. See the links below to learn more about these systems.

Potential Incentives, Rebates, Tax Credits, & Financing Options

There are potential incentives, rebates, tax credits and financing options to help you make the transition to a heat pump system. For example, the Town of Tupper Municipal Electric Department offers an Independent Energy Efficiency Program (IEEP) rebate for customers who install qualifying high efficiency heat pump systems. Also, you may receive potential federal tax credits, resulting in additional savings. Speak with your tax advisor to learn more about claiming these tax credits. Lastly, many stores offer sale incentives to further add to your savings! Check with your local store to see if you can receive point of sale rebates.
